For your consideration, a very good copy of the slim volume “Human Touch” published by the Bauer Type Foundry in 1937.
Set and printed in Weiss Bold at Joseph Blumenthal's Spiral Press in New York, NY, and illustrated with woodcuts of several type foundry operations by Karl Mahr.
Weiss along with its italic, bold, and a series of three all-cap titling faces (I, II, III) was designed by Emil Weiss for Bauer in the early 1930s.
The three woodcuts shown are, in order, a punch cutter, a matrix engraver, and a hand-caster. These and other images depicting many more foundry operations were issued in larger format by the Association of German Typefounders in 1928 as “Der Druckbuchstabe.”
This copy is rare and unusual in that is is bound in a gilt-stamped brown paste paper over boards.
Compare with other copies currently available on line (of which there are none), then come back and place your order.
As always, excess postage is promptly refunded.
