For your consideration, at the first edition of the seminal "Layout in Advertising."
Written and illustrated by author, type designer, illustrator, book and binding designer, and marionette maker William Addison Dwiggins in 1928, and published by Harper Brothers.
This book was peerless at the time of its writing. Dwiggins was peerless as a multi-faceted artist and craftsman. He combined a keen intellect with a sharp sense of humor, and a practitioner's ability to convey the details of process in a clean and concise way. This book is the fruit of his genius.
A very good copy, the corners are bumped with some loss to the printed patterned paper over boards. The spine is in good condition, if sunned and faded. Unlike the revised second edition, the first edition was not issued in a dust jacket, and suffers for that. Still, for a 93 year old book, it's as good a copy as is currently available on line.
The interior is clean and bright. No previous owner's marks, the one defect is that the rear hinge has split, but has not begun to separate.
The Harper & Brother copyright page code is I-C indicating this copy was printed in September 1928. While that code doesn't indicate which printing, it's quite possible that this is a first printing.
Compare with other copies currently available on line, then come back and place your order knowing that you're supporting a working letterpress craftsman.
